Nommo Rack

The Nommo Rack is inspired by a Malian Dogon wooden figure of the same name, as featured in African Design by Geoffrey Williams. Through a process of geometric abstraction rooted in the traditions of early African woodcarvers, the figure’s profile is distilled into an elemental geometric form that defines the rack’s structure, with its rhythm echoing the cadence and vitality found throughout African cultures.
The design further emerges from an ongoing investigation into light structures and our perception of stability. The result is a form that appears to subvert expectations of structural balance while introducing movement, dynamism, and color.
